EWS

So after a pretty OK rug racers, this weekend saw the first round of EWS series, I was doing this having been unable to go to ETS.
It's based down in Essex, and features a large track, even a little bigger than that of Carpet Wars back in its hay day...
The meeting itself was very well run, no major hick ups at all. And the track was brilliant. Fast, flowing, corners placed away from the tape lines.... Perfect.

The rostrum is situated on a viewing balcony, and is the perfect height in my opinion.

The format for the meeting was 1 practise in heat, then 5 qualifying rounds done to the round by round format then 1 final each.
I have my views on this but not everybody likes constructive criticism....

My meeting didn't really go that great.
Car was good right from the start, but simply didn't have enough horse, similar situation to last weekend but at least doubled due to the higher traction compared to rug racers.
I ended up just scraping the B final, which was well below expectations but simply too many messy rounds and with round by round being used. After 3 bad runs your day is over.
The final was somewhat better, starting 9th on the grid, got up to 4th places on the first lap promptly before being punted off back to 8/9th again, had a clean rest of the final and ended up back in 4th overall for it.
My lap times didn't get any better or worse throughout Qual or the finals because I think I was motor limited.
Could run the fast pace for the first 4-5 laps with the timing advanced but then would fall back heavily at the end when the motor went off due to heat.
Kind of frustrating tbh.

The weekend wasn't a total bust though. Went shopping with penny at Lakeside and then to ikea on Saturday before heading to the hotel for sat night before the race.
It was penny's first time coming along to watch and didn't seem too bored which can only be a good sign!

Not really a great deal else to say in this blog, although the next couple of entries will likely be car builds!

Ciao!
